
Suzanne Pleshette (January 31, 1937 - January 19 2008) was an American theatre, film, television, and voice actress. 1. Pleshette began her career in theatre and started appearing in films towards the end of the 1950s. Later, she made appearances in notable films like Rome Adventure (1962), Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds (1963), and Spirited Away (2001). She also appeared in numerous television shows, usually in guest roles. She also she was Emily Hartley on The Bob Newhart Show from 1972 until 1978, receiving several Emmy Award nominations for her work. Pleshette was born on the 31st of January, 1937, in the New York City neighborhood of Brooklyn Heights, to Geraldine (nee Kaplan)[1] and Eugene Pleshette. Her parents were Jewish immigrants from Russia and Austria-Hungary. Her mother was a dancer, artist and choreographer, who worked under the stage name Geraldine Rivers. Her father was a stage director at both the Paramount Theater as well as the Paramount Theater in Manhattan.
